About
About Michael Bonocore
I work on both sides of sponsored content. I sell the partnership, and then I make the work: the story, the film, the photographs.
My road to photography ran through technology. I started out building databases and writing quality-assurance tests for startups, until a trip to Costa Rica with a simple camera pushed me toward telling stories in pictures.
Building a name as a photographer took more than a decade, including a two-page spread in National Geographic. Assignments have taken me to more than 30 countries, among them Cuba, Morocco, Peru, Jordan, Namibia, and Uganda. I have also led photography workshops with The Giving Lens, which serves underprivileged children around the world.
PetaPixel is a client: I handle partnership sales, produce its travel shows, and have written 68 articles for it since 2021, including sponsored stories for Lindblad Expeditions, OM SYSTEM, DxO, Pelican, and Adobe. In Boise, the advertising agency Duft & Watterson brings me in as an allied videographer and photographer.
